Shopping Segment Guard — free checking guide
A free manual guide to checking custom-label segment membership after a Google Shopping feed migration. The paid-review experiment has ended.
Shopping Segment Guard is now a free reference guide. The paid-review experiment has ended. Veylo is not offering reviews, taking orders or collecting payments for this project.
A feed migration can change the products in a custom-label segment even when its count stays unchanged.
Synthetic example: a segment contains SKU-001 and SKU-002 before migration, and SKU-001 and SKU-003 afterward. The count stays at two, but SKU-002 left and SKU-003 entered. This is an illustration, not a customer result.
Free manual check
1. Record the label column and value, market, language, channel, export times and processing stage. Use the same scope and comparable processing stages for both exports.
2. Keep product IDs as text so leading zeros survive. Check that each ID is unique.
3. Filter each export to the selected label segment.
4. Compare the two sets of IDs. IDs present only before are departures; IDs present only after are arrivals.
5. Review both lists even when the counts match. Have the campaign owner review intended changes and check live campaign inclusion separately.
If Merchant Center rules generate your labels, confirm that both exports represent comparable final label values. Comparing raw source files alone cannot establish that those rules still produce the intended labels. Google explains raw and processed attributes and source-specific rule setup here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/14994083?hl=en-GB . Export availability depends on your setup; Veylo has not verified a universal way to obtain processed exports.
Free general-purpose feed comparison tools also exist, including https://feeddiff.app/ . A spreadsheet or existing comparator may already cover your needs. No claim is made that free tools lack custom-label checks.
Limits
This guide covers independent single-label membership comparisons with stable exact IDs. It does not reconstruct nested campaign filters, verify live Google Ads configuration, repair feeds or predict ad performance. A changed segment requires review; it does not establish an error.
A local checker prototype exists, but its real-browser verification is incomplete and it is not included here.
Optional feedback
If you have used this method, Veylo welcomes a description of what helped or remained difficult. Please omit credentials, private feed URLs, customer data and files. Feedback does not place an order or arrange a service.
